In what ways do fleas spread
One common way fleas spread is through direct contact with infected animals. Pets such as cats and dogs are often carriers of fleas, which can jump onto furniture, carpets, and bedding before finding a new host to feed on. Humans can also become accidental hosts if they come into close proximity to an infested animal or environment.
Fleas also spread by attaching to clothing, handbags, shoes, and coats and spread out once in a new environment where they will wait for a host and then attach themselves again to feed.
Flea eggs and larvae can survive in the environment for several months before maturing into adult fleas. This means that even after treating an infested area with flea treatments, it may take some time for all stages of the flea life cycle to be eliminated completely. As such, treatment for fleas requires persistence and patience to ensure the complete eradication of these pests from your home or business.
What should I do to prepare for a professional treatment
Preparation prior to flea treatments includes cleaning your home thoroughly. This means washing bedding and clothing in hot water; clearing clutter; moving furniture around so that areas under sofas or beds can be vacuumed easily; vacuuming carpets and upholstery properly to remove any live or dead fleas; disposing of the bag outside immediately after use. It is also essential to inform the pest control specialist if there are any pets present in the house and how they will be treated during the process. By following these preparation steps recommended by specialists in flea control services like Young’s Pest Control, you can ensure a more effective outcome when treating an infestation problem successfully without harming yourself or anyone else living within your household.
Pre-treatment: Clear clutter
- Remove any items lying on the floor, such as toys and shoes.
- Put away loose items such as pillows, blankets, etc.
- Allow easy access for the flea exterminator.
What is normally done after a treatment
After undergoing flea treatments, it is crucial to follow a few steps to ensure that the treatment for fleas is successful. The first step in maintaining the efficacy of flea eradication is waiting for 14 days before vacuuming, mopping, sweeping or brushing any areas in your home. This period gives time for residual pest control agents to work and kill any remaining fleas.
Secondly, washing all bedding and clothing in hot water helps rid them of any lingering eggs or larvae. Treating pets with flea medication will also prevent future infestations from occurring. Furthermore, monitoring your pet’s behaviour after the treatment can help identify if any fleas remain but keep in mind that you will see them up to 2 weeks after the treatment has been done.
It is important to keep pets and people away from the treated area for at least 4-5 hours until dry. Reducing humidity levels by opening windows can also help eliminate fleas, as they thrive in warm and humid conditions. By following these guidelines after treatment, you are taking proactive measures towards ensuring complete flea eradication in your home without having to call back pest control services again.
DIY is a no-go as there are several risks
Flea infestations can be a nuisance to homeowners, and many individuals may attempt DIY flea control methods before seeking the assistance of a professional pest control service. However, it is important to understand that these DIY approaches can often lead to ineffective results, causing more harm than good. One major risk associated with DIY flea treatments is the possibility of incomplete eradication, which can result in recurring infestations.
Effective treatment for fleas requires an understanding of their biology and behaviour patterns. Flea eggs can remain dormant for extended periods of time until environmental conditions become favourable for hatching. This means that even if adult fleas are eliminated through DIY methods such as vacuuming or using over-the-counter sprays, any remaining unhatched eggs will eventually hatch and restart the cycle all over again. A professional flea exterminator has access to specialized products and equipment designed specifically for the complete eradication of fleas at every stage of their life cycle.
Another risk associated with DIY flea control is the potential danger posed by certain chemicals used in over-the-counter products. These chemicals may not only pose health risks to humans but also to pets who come into contact with them.
DIY flea control methods may appear cost-effective but often lead to ineffective results and health hazards due to incorrect application of chemicals. For effective flea eradication, homeowners should seek professional pest control like Youngs Pest Control in Gathurst. Our team of experienced specialists uses safe and efficient methods tailored to your specific needs.
Fleas pose a significant threat to human and animal health. Effective flea control requires proper preparation before treatment and adherence to recommended post-treatment practices. As a homeowner, you need not risk DIY disasters if you seek professional pest control solutions like those offered by Youngs Flea Treatments in Gathurst.

Very nice man told exactly what will happen and said about a week they will be gone then il block up the brick work , and if they have not gone by then he will come back again guaranteed and no charge thank you .Posted on Jacqueline HadfieldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I could not fault the service which I used for a wasp nest above a bedroom window. After contacting the company I received a phone call back within a few minutes to book the treatment the following day. Unfortunately it was raining heavily and someone phoned to say the treatment is not fully effective in the rain and they would prefer to postpone. The wasps were getting in the house and they suggested we try to put tape around any possible access points, which we did. Another day was booked but unfortunately the same thing occurred. This is Manchester after all. I was given the option of going ahead or postponing again and chose the latter as I wanted it to be as effective as possible. On the next appointment day, which was dry, they phoned and said they would be at my home in 20 minutes. Sure enough they were. I got a good explanation of what they did, how the wasps would react, how long it would take to work and I could watch the process. I pointed out where the wasps were gathering and straight away the technician saw another, smaller nest area. They treated both very quickly with no mess. In view of having to change the date twice they just charged for one treatment, despite me saying it wasn't their fault. I was very impressed with the overall service, the informative description of the process and the fact that within two days there were no more signs of wasps. If there has been they said they come back and do another treatment for no extra charge. I was even asked if I minded them staying on the drive whilst they contacted the next customer. Youngs Pest Control give a brilliant, efficient, informative and friendly service. If I could give ten stars in the review I would.Posted on AndrewTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. How Weather Affects Fleas In Gathurst
Flea populations are heavily influenced by weather. Warm, humid conditions accelerate their breeding cycles, leading to sudden infestations in homes and gardens. Cold snaps may slow them, but once temperatures rise, fleas quickly become active again, posing problems for pets and households year-round.
