Safe Atherton BumbleBee Control
The buzz of bumblebees is familiar to many UK gardens during the summer months. While one or two of these insects visiting is nothing to be concerned about, it is a different story if a colony set up a home in your garden or property. Suppose this is the case you need to be concerned about as bumblebees can be protective of their nests and pose a danger. Young’s Pest Control can help in this situation, and our Atherton bumble bee control experts can deal with a perch to remove the threat.
Types of BumbleBee
Both native and invasive bumblebee species can be found living around the UK. There are over 20 native species, with some of the common types including the heath, common carder, buff-tailed, and garden bumblebees. Invasive species include tree bumblebees, with these first recorded in the New Forest area at the beginning of the 2000s. They have quickly spread to other areas of the UK, though and can be more complex than native species.
Nesting Habits
Bumblebees can build nests in many locations around a property. This can include underground caves, overturned plant pots, and cavities in a property wall. As their name suggests, tree bumblebees are more likely to choose a hollow in a tree to build a nest, although they can also be attracted to bird boxes. A queen will start a nest in early spring and grow in size over the following months. In most cases, the last one season and in the autumn, young queens will emerge to go and hibernate then re-emerge the next spring to start the cycle again. Fully matured colonies can hold more than one hundred insects and the best way to deal with these is an Atherton bumble bee control treatment.

How Weather Affects Bumblebees In Atherton
Bumblebee nests are highly affected by weather conditions. Warm, dry spells boost activity and colony growth, often leading to larger nests near gardens or properties. In contrast, colder or wetter periods slow them down, but once conditions improve, bumblebees quickly become more active and noticeable around homes.
