Bryobia Mite

The Bryobia mite is one of the largest mites in the Spider Mite family, although still the size of a pinhead the adult can actually be seen by the naked eye. Oval in shape, they are reddish in colour with eight red legs – two longer forelegs. If you crush a Bryonia mite to kill it, it will leave a red splodge.

Bryobia mites live on plants and with over 130 different species of this mite, they can be found on many different plants from clover to fruit trees to grasses and can cause a lot of damage to crops.
